DACIA DOUBLE AT WHAT CAR? AWARDS 2019 AS SANDERO WINS FOR INCREDIBLE SEVENTH-CONSECUTIVE YEAR

  • Dacia Sandero takes ‘Best Small Car for less than £12,000’ award
  • Sandero wins its category for the seventh-consecutive year
  • Judges praise the exceptional value and practicality of the Sandero
  • All-New Dacia Duster takes win in ‘Best Family SUV for less than £18,000’ category
  • The model was praised for its strong value-for-money offering

Dacia is celebrating this evening as it picked up two wins in the annual What Car? Awards. The Sandero triumphed for the seventh-consecutive year, winning ‘Best Small Car for less than £12,000’, while the All-New Duster won in the ‘Best Family SUV for less than £18,000’ category. The What Car? Awards are among the most prestigious in the automotive industry and reflect the opinions of the vastly experienced road test team from What Car? magazine.

Since it first picked up the award in 2013, the Dacia Sandero has consistently delighted customers that choose the no-nonsense supermini. Priced from £6,995, the Sandero is well-equipped and also benefits from low running costs. Six years on from its UK launch the model still represents ‘shockingly affordable’ value.

Steve Huntingford, What Car? Editor, said: “The Sandero offers exceptional value, particularly in mid-level Essential trim. And no car available for similar money has anything like as much space and practicality.”

The All-New Dacia Duster was awarded the title of ‘Best Family SUV for less than £18,000’ at this evening’s ceremony. The all-new version of the Duster has brand new exterior styling with a totally revised dashboard and interior that provide enhanced comfort and quality.

The All-New Dacia Duster SUV is available from £9,995 in a choice of four trim levels: Access, Essential, Comfort and Prestige. Equipment available on the Duster includes options never before available on the Dacia range such as keyless entry, climate control, a Blind Spot Warning system and a Multiview Camera that includes four cameras located around the vehicle.

Commenting on the win for the Duster, Huntingford said: “There really are very few cars on sale in any class that can match the Duster’s value-for-money offering. It has loads of room inside, a good boot, and the 1.5-litre diesel model is punchy too.”

Speaking on the latest award wins for the brand, Louise O’Sullivan, Head of Dacia UK, said: “It’s a terrific accolade for the Sandero to have won this What Car? Award in every year that it’s been on sale. We’re proud of the car and the most satisfying thing is that the customers love it too. The All-New Duster has been launched to strong critical acclaim and continues Dacia’s ethos of offering quality cars at exceptional value-for-money prices.”

About Dacia

Dacia has a long history associated with Renault, the French brand first working with Dacia plants in Romania in the 1960s, before acquiring them fully in 1999. The brand concept is simple: to shake up preconceived ideas. Dacia produces spacious, robust, high-quality vehicles of original design that are affordable for everybody.

Dacia vehicles offer exceptional value for money. Reliable and resistant, they embody the best of Renault expertise. Relaunched by parent company Groupe Renault in 2004, the Dacia range has been expanding constantly and buyers have a wide array of vehicles to choose from, ranging from Dacia Duster, a sporty all-terrain vehicle, to family vehicles such as the Dacia Sandero and Dacia Logan MCV. The concept continues to enjoy great success with over 5 million Dacias sold in Europe since the brand’s revival in 2004.

Dacia launched in the UK in January 2013 and enjoyed the most successful start ever for a new car brand in the UK. Dacia was named as the most recommended car brand in 2018 in a list compiled by YouGov in its BrandIndex, beating 34 other manufacturers. Dacia was also named Best Value Brand at the Auto Trader New Car Awards 2018, voted for by 43,000 real UK car owners. Dacia was one of only four out of 36 manufacturers to receive five-star reliability ratings in the 2017 Which? Car Survey, outperforming many well established and premium brands. The Dacia Sandero has been awarded the title of “Best Small Car under £12,000” by What Car? for seven consecutive years (2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013). More than 140,000 Dacia vehicles have been sold in the UK to date.
